Jeff Phillips

Jeff Phillips was a Dallas vert skater who turned pro in 1983 and became the leading figure of the Texas scene through the 1980s. Riding for Sims and later G&S, he popularised the Phillips 66 and famously beat Tony Hawk at the 1986 NSA Pro-Am Final in Anaheim, earning a Thrasher cover the following March. He later ran his own indoor skatepark in Dallas and died in December 1993, aged 30.
