Foundation

Foundation was started by pro skater Tod Swank in 1989 with help from World Industries owner Steve Rocco. After two years Swank moved it to San Diego, where it became the flagship of his Tum Yeto distribution company.

History

  • Tod Swank started Foundation in 1989 with help from Steve Rocco, owner of World Industries. [1][2]
  • World Industries distributed Foundation for its first two years, until Swank moved the company to San Diego on his own. [1][2]
  • Foundation is made and distributed by Tum Yeto, the San Diego company Swank founded in 1989, alongside brands such as Toy Machine and Pig Wheels. [3]
  • Its videos include Duty Now for the Future, Barbarians at the Gate, That's Life and WTF!. [2]
  • Foundation makes decks, clothing, accessories and skate videos. [1]

Sources disagree

  • Founding year: most sources give 1989, but illumate.ch says the brand celebrated its 28th anniversary in June 2018, which would point to 1990.
