UK brand

Heroin

Brand started in 1998 by English artist Mark 'Fos' Foster, later run from Los Angeles and known for its egg-shaped and extra-wide boards.

History

  • Heroin was founded in 1998 by English artist Mark 'Fos' Foster. [1][2][3]
  • Fos came up with the idea while working at Slam City Skates' Latimer Road warehouse. [3]
  • He has said the name came from realising how addicted to skateboarding he was while recovering from a broken wrist, not from any interest in drugs. [1]
  • Early Heroin boards were blanks from his workplace that he spray-painted and sold on. [1]
  • Fos moved to the US in 2010 and runs the brand from Highland Park, Los Angeles. [1]
  • The first Heroin egg-shaped board was made in 2016 for Daniel Shimizu, with a larger 9.125-inch version following in 2018. [3]
  • Heroin makes boards up to 14 inches wide, including the 'Eggzilla', and had its best sales year some 27 years after it began. [2]
