Easy to build, portable and fun to launch off of. Unfortunately, decks were snapping left and right. Powell-Peralta deck returns were so high the company sought ways to make decks stronger and more resistant to jump breaks. One solution was Bonite construction. Another was the "Gee-Gaw" shape which had bumps to reinforce the break zone area. Why "Gee-Gaw?" Ask Chris Iverson. This shape was also used for the Ripper graphic. They were produced between 1987 and 1988. About the art: The Rodriguez "Skull & Sword" deck was the first pro signature deck graphic produced by Powell-Peralta. The graphic was conceived by Ray and Illustrated by V.C. Johnson with art direction from George Powell in 1979 GRAPHIC FEATURES: -Bottom graphic features screenprinted ink over foil -Top is dyed veneer with hand-printed top logo COMING LATE FEBRUARY / EARLY MARCH Powell-Peralta™ Re-Issue Construction Powell-Peralta re-issue decks are close reproductions of their 1980’s counterparts, featuring the original top and bottom graphics, shape and concave. Made with our partner in Mexico. Materials include U.S. hard rock maple and glue that meets our specifications, warranted against delamination for their useful life. Shape and graphics created in Santa Barbara, CA. *Given the nature of the foil and the manufacturing process, slight variations and minor imperfections are perfectly normal. *The dip-dyed top veneer on this deck is one of a kind. Because of natural variations in the wood grain and dyed veneers, the color and pattern may differ slightly from the image shown. *If you don’t plan on skating this deck, please handle carefully when removing from the packaging. The ink/foil adhesion is delicate and can be easily scratched.
