In the Spring of 1980, The Powell "Brite-Lite" line of decks was given a graphic update: a big triple P logo with a Powell-Peralta logo beneath. The Jay Smith graphic was essentially the new Brite-Lite design with his name splashed over the 3-P logo. Later versions the 3-P was replaced by an iron cross. Jay was a Marina local who embraced the punk scene and was famously known for his super contorted layback grinds.
