Mike McGill

Mike McGill grew up in Port Richey, Florida, and turned pro in 1980, joining Powell Peralta's Bones Brigade alongside Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Lance Mountain and Rodney Mullen. In 1984, on a wooden halfpipe in Sweden, he invented the McTwist, a 540-degree mute-grab aerial that became one of vert skating's defining tricks. He later ran McGill's Skateshop in Encinitas, California, and was inducted into the Skateboarding Hall of Fame in 2017.
