Dwindle Distribution

Dwindle Distribution is a skateboard distributor based in El Segundo, California. It is home to brands such as Almost, Enjoi, Blind and Darkstar.

History

  • Steve Rocco and Rodney Mullen founded Dwindle. Rocco grouped his remaining companies under the Dwindle name in 1998. [1][4]
  • In 2002 Australia's Globe International bought Kubic Marketing, the holding company that owned World Industries and Dwindle. The deal made Globe one of the world's biggest skateboard companies. [2][3]
  • Dwindle set up its own deck factory, DSM (Douglas Street Manufacturing), in Shenzhen, China. The factory was announced publicly in 2003. [1]
  • Zero Skateboards moved to Dwindle for distribution in June 2014. In 2016 Jamie Thomas took it back to run independently. [6]
  • In 2019 Globe sold Dwindle to Bravo Sports, a company owned by Transom Capital Group. The sale covered Almost, Blind, Darkstar, Dusters, Enjoi, Speed Demons, Superior, Tensor and the DSM factory. [5][2]
  • Hugh 'Bod' Boyle became Dwindle's president and Steve Douglas its vice-president. Its brands later included New Deal, 101 Heritage and Madness alongside Almost, Enjoi, Blind and Darkstar. [1]

Sources disagree

  • Sources name the 2019 buyer differently: Wikipedia says Transom Capital Group, SGB says Bravo Sports (a Transom portfolio company), and Vert Is Dead says Highline Industries.
  • The 1998 founding year comes from a single blog (Vert Is Dead). Wikipedia gives no founding year.
