Flip

Grew out of the British company Deathbox and moved from the UK to California in 1994, where it became an international brand still co-owned by Jeremy Fox and Ian Deacon.

History

  • Its predecessor, Deathbox Skateboards, was started in the UK in 1987 by Graham McEachran, Jeremy Fox and Duncan Houlton. [1][3]
  • Tom Penny, Rune Glifberg, Andy Scott and Geoff Rowley rode for the company while it was still called Deathbox. [1][3]
  • Wikipedia lists Flip as founded in England in 1991. [1]
  • The company moved from the UK to California in July 1994; Fox, Deacon and Rowley went first, with Penny and Glifberg following. [1][2]
  • At the time of the move its pro team was Penny, Rowley, Glifberg and Andy Scott. [1]
  • In California the British team was supported by Ed Templeton's Toy Machine. [1]
  • Flip is co-owned by Jeremy Fox and Ian Deacon. [1][2]

Sources disagree

  • Some sources say Flip began as a rebrand of Bash, a Deathbox division, and merged with Deathbox in 1993; this was not confirmed on a fetched page. One secondary source describes Deathbox simply relocating and rebranding as Flip in 1994.
