Real

A San Francisco street skating brand started in 1991 by former Powell Peralta teammates Jim Thiebaud and Tommy Guerrero, distributed by Deluxe.

History

  • Jim Thiebaud and Tommy Guerrero, former Powell Peralta teammates, co-founded Real in 1991. [1][2][3]
  • Guerrero, Thiebaud, Eric Swenson and Fausto Vitello set up Real and Deluxe with a focus on city skating. [4]
  • In the early days they were pressing barely 300 boards for each new graphic. [4]
  • Thiebaud is vice president of Deluxe Distribution. [1]

Sources disagree

  • Deluxe's start date: Vice says Deluxe was started alongside Real around 1991, while the Deluxe Wikipedia page gives 1986.
