Tony Hawk

Tony Hawk is a San Diego vert skater who turned pro at 14 in 1982 and rode for Powell Peralta as part of the Bones Brigade. He dominated vert competition through the 1980s and early 1990s, later founding Birdhouse, and in 1999 became the first skater to land a documented 900 at the X Games. The Tony Hawk's Pro Skater video game series, launched the same year, made him the best-known skateboarder in the world, and he was part of the Skateboarding Hall of Fame's first intake in 2009.
